NaNoWriMo (Whadyou Call Me?)
Holy hell! It’s already Halloween! You know what that means!! (No, not dress up like a ho.)
That means tomorrow is November 1st and the Start of NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. I saw bits and pieces about this last year but didn’t find out about it until the end of November.
This couldn’t come at a better time. I’ve been itching to write my first novel and there’s nothing like a crazy challenge to make me do it.
Why is it so crazy, you ask? Well, here are the rules:
During NaNoWriMo, you write 50,000 words in the 30 days of November.
I’m no rocket scientist but from my calculations, that’s 1,666.666667 words per day. Hmmmm. If you use the online converter and write 1700 words in 12 point font double spaced, that’s 5.9 pages per day. That’s totally doable, right?
Then you have to factor in that I am doing a 10 day road trip in November and then a trip to see the family for Thanksgiving and a 2 day shooting course. So that pretty much takes out 14 days.
so I am basically writing 50,000 words in 16 days = 3,125 words/day or 10.8 pages. Well, I better stock up on snacks and coffee. It’s gonna be an intense November.
So let’s get our NaNoWriMo on! Who’s with me?!
