Eff YOU, NaNoWriMo! Eff you…
Well, let’s just say unless I write a billion words tomorrow, I will FAIL to meet the NaNoWriMo challenge. I’m not gonna lie, after signing up for it I thought it was a lame sham. What? You want me to write a novel in a month and donate money to you? Are you mad?
I wrote a few thousand words and that was about it. So it may not have motivated me to write my first big novel, but what signing up for the challenge did do:
- Motivated me to release my first book on amazon
- Got me in the habit of writing something other than random blog rants
So I guess I can thank NaNoWriMo for encouraging me to do something (even if I didn’t fulfill the original intent). But I followed my heart, randomly contacted an author I didn’t know but was a connection on LinkedIn and now I have a new writing buddy/mentor/friend.
I’m a bit of a self improvement/personal development junkie. There’s a lot to be said for following your heart and intuition. Every time I do, it seems to lead me down a fulfilling path. When I don’t, that’s when shit seems to fall apart.
So today I am thankful for being true to myself and failing miserably at NaNoWriMo.
